Thank you for submitting questions on my recent post. It’s always fun to write out thoughtful responses. Here is my first round of the Q &A:
How many kids do you want?
That’s a good question, but we don’t yet know the answer. We are planning to wait and see. Right now, we are very happy with three, so we might just stick with that, but we also might decide to have another in the future.
Has going through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and raising kids plus your pregnancy losses changed that number?
My pregnancies have been difficult, so that will definitely be something we consider when we decide if we will have more children. My two miscarriages were heartbreaking, but since I was able to carry two more babies to term after them, that likely wouldn’t impact our decision.
What are your summer plans?
We are looking forward to a relaxing summer without much travel. We have two extended family gatherings scheduled, and that’s about it. We always set aside a few weekends to work on house projects. I also want to make sure to spend plenty of time at local pools working on swimming with Little Buddy. He is taking lessons again this summer.
How do the boys like their sister? Are they protective of her?
They love her and are both very protective. When she cries, Littlest Buddy will say, “Help her, Mommy. Help her.” Little Buddy has a pretty good understanding of being gentle, but Littlest Buddy is learning.
Are you homeschooling?
We are! It has been a fun year. Little Buddy officially starts Kindergarten in the fall, but he just finished his Kindergarten reading curriculum, and he is halfway through Kindergarten math. We also add in Bible, history, and science.
Do you think you would ever leave Nashville?
We have no plans to leave Nashville, but anything is possible. For the most part, we really like the weather (four seasons, but mild winters), although if it were up to us, the summers would be a bit cooler. The hills in Middle Tennessee are beautiful, and they provide plenty of opportunities for hiking. The downside of the hills is that biking is tough, unless you go to one of the paths along the rivers, and if you go to outdoor places like the zoo, it’s a major workout just to walk around.
How do you manage to make time for all three blogs, especially since each one is moderated? Though keeping up with the Bates and Duggars is fine, I’m far more interested in your blog. Do you think you will pass the other two blogs onto someone else in the future?
Thank you for your kind words! Finding time to blog has been harder since our second and third children were born, but I enjoy writing, so I plan to keep it up. I squeeze it in whenever I have a few minutes, whether that be during naptime, while the kids are happily playing, or in the evening.
How have you found going from 2 to 3 children?
Overall, it hasn’t been too tough. It definitely is not three times as much work as having one child. Going out in public alone with the kids takes a lot of energy, but at home, things generally go smoothly if I stay focused and maintain a schedule. Little Lady hasn’t been sleeping well the past month, so that has made things a bit harder, but I know that won’t last forever.
