Last February 10th, Sister María Teresa Hernández Angulo celebrated her 80th birthday. On this date, the Sisters, staff and students of Instituto Hispano Inglés gathered in the Eucharistic Celebration to thank God for her life and for the privilege of having her among us for more than 13 years. After the Mass, Sister Maricruz Iñiguez Padilla, School Principal, gave her an award for her work as an educator serving many generations of students.
Sister Maria Teresa also received many demonstrations of affection from the students, from Kindergarten to High School, from the staff and from the parents. Luis Arturo Hernández Valadez, Junior High School student, expressed gratitude to Sister Tere. It was a very intense and happy moment, and we want to share it with you: With so many dreams to fulfill, one of them will be lived!
Today is a very special day, there are many reasons to celebrate: the eternal life that God promises us, the joy of sharing it with others… Today we have gathered here to thank God for the privilege of life, but especially to express our gratitude for our Mother, Sister Tere.
Some persons become very important along the road, their example and their teachings are so important, their embraces and their glances are so valuable.
Thank you, God, for giving us the opportunity to find real angels on our road, angels that you send to us so they help us to do your works. Thank you, because today we celebrate the life on one of your angels: Sister Tere.
Thank you for teaching us to love life, to share it, to understand that, as human beings, we have enough motives to be sad, but as true children of the Incarnate Word, we have only one motive to be happy: being children of God and believing in Him. Seeing you around the school is a motive of joy, meeting you and talking to you, receiving your advice, a hug from you, is a privilege.
Thank you, Sister Tere, for helping us to find God in everything we do, for seeing in the eyes of a friend the hope of a new dream, for encouraging us to be better, to work for the mission that God entrusts to us. Thank you, because without your presence, our existence would not be the same.
Today, we gather and share with you the joy of one more year of your life; at the same time, we express our gratitude to heaven because the creator has been noble, very noble in sending you to us to you would fill us with peace and wisdom.
Thank you for everything you have shared with us and may God continue to fill you with blessings, health and love.
Happy Birthday, Sister Tere!”
One thing I ask from the Lord,
this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the Lord
and to seek him in his temple.

FRANCISCO: If I will try, it’s my birthday so I don’t know if my parents want to take me out to eat. I want to see you again though. GLORIA: (Gloria starts to blush) Oh Happy Birthday! Anyways, look at it and think of me. I have to get to school, but I’ll see you around Francisco. (Just then Francisco’s two friends Rodrigo and Anthony show up around the corner) Roderigo: Hey Francisco what are you up to! ANTHONY: Are you ready for our first day of school, I heard it’s a really nice rich place, but there’s snobby white kids. RODRIGO: We’re gonna have to show them some Hispanic marvels right here, right boys? ANTHONY: Hello Earth to Francisco, anyone home? RODRIGO: Are you listening to me Frank, you have cotton balls in your ears or something? (Francisco began smiling as the bus drives away in a charismatic nature he falls onto the grass as if he is on cloud nine) ANTHONY: Frank what is up with you today? RODRIGO: Yeah hermano, you look like a grinning hyena. If your smile gets any bigger I’m gonna have to recommend you to a shrink. FRANCISCO: You’ll never believe it guys, I just met the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. ANTHONY: Really? Someone beautiful from around here? RODRIGO: Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it. Nothing beats the women from
